The world’s largest cruise enterprise has started cancelling subsequent year’s trips in a fresh blow to an sector devastated by the coronavirus pandemic.

Former FTSE a hundred cruise operator Carnival blamed border restrictions and the “continued uncertainty of airline travel” for axing Princess Cruises sailings in early 2021.

Jan Swartz, Princess Cruises president, said: “We share in the disappointment of this cancellation for guests of our earth cruises.”

The cancellations comply with an announcement by Cunard, also owned by Carnival, that providers will be suspended until finally March subsequent calendar year.

All sailings have been cancelled for Queen Elizabeth until finally Mar twenty five,  Queen Mary two until finally Apr 18, and Queen Victoria until finally Might 16, Cunard said.

Shares in Carnival, also outlined on the New York inventory exchange, have plunged over fears that the Miami-headquartered enterprise faces a long street to recovery in the wake of the pandemic.
