Adhering to farmers’ desire, the Gujarat government on Monday made the decision to progress the groundnut procurement procedure in the State starting from Oct 21 in its place of the before introduced November 19.
State Agriculture Minister RC Faldu knowledgeable that after representations from farmer leaders to progress the procurement procedure, the State government made the decision to begin registrations from Oct 1 and get started MSP purchases from Oct 21.
The procurement procedure will go on for ninety times, throughout which Countrywide Agricultural Cooperative Promoting Federation of India Ltd (Nafed) will conduct MSP functions by way of the nodal agencies.
The Gujarat State Civil Supplies Corporation has been appointed as the nodal agency to conduct groundnut procurement from farmers at the MSP of ₹5,275 for each quintal.
Pradip Sojitra, previous chairman of Amreli Marketyard,advised BusinessLine, “There has been a large amount of damage to the crop in most of the groundnut sowing location. In this condition, there is really much less chance that farmers will offer at MSP as the price ranges are heading to go up because of the significant-scale damage to the crop.”
