U.S. Plans Sanctions, Export Controls Against Russia if It Invades Ukraine

The U.S. is ready to impose export controls on vital sectors of the Russian economic system if Russian President Vladimir Putin invades Ukraine, and is doing the job to soften industry shocks if Russia withholds power materials in retaliation, officials claimed.

Taking a web page out of the Trump administration playbook to pressure Chinese telecom huge Huawei Technologies Co., senior administration officers on Tuesday claimed the U.S. could ban the export to Russia of numerous items that use microelectronics dependent on U.S. devices, software or technologies.
